Like a little boy with a toy, I too was excited to travel on the no-frills airline, which won the BEST LOW COST CARRIER IN ASIA. They deserved it. Why? Because they are the only low cost airline in the Asia region which flies to almost every continent in Asia, except Pakistan and Afghanistan, because those two countries are just scary to visit.
Anyway, enough of jibberish, back to my first experience flying with Air Asia. First up is the LCCT Airport, and boy why does it have to be so far? Reached there at a very uncivilised time, got a parking and dashed straight to the check-in counter. Goodness me what a check-in area it was, reminds me of the old Terminal 3 in Subang, times 5 more people at LCCT. No wonder Air Asia uses the tagline "NOW EVERYONE CAN FLY" and I mean literally, everyone can fly. Even the "expats" maids and labourers fly, too.
So, first hurdle passed. Next, to the GATE area. By the time my flight was being called, before I knew it, they are already people queing up. You don't get this scenario if you're travelling MAS or other airline at KLIA, where it is more civilised. Reminds me again of their tagline.
So, proceed to the aircraft, which all this while I would normally use the skybridge or whatever they call it to connect from the terminal to the aircraft, but this morning's completely different. Walk about 300 meters to the aircraft. OK so far so good.
Then, got onto the aircraft and I was surprised to see that they are so many seats which reminds me of a METROBUS ferrying UiTM students from KL to Lendu. The seats are anything but comfy, to be honest with you. If I was a stickman, then I would be comfy sitting. Seating arrangement is at a 90 degrees position and crammed, nonetheless; but still not bad for a low cost airline. I would expect something worse like having to stand during the entire journey.
So, airport is at par, aircraft is not too shabby. Let's talk about the food. They are plenty to choose from. The nasi lemak was not too bad either. The only gripe I have is on the price. RM 5 for a pack of Milo? And RM 9 for a pack on nasi lemak? Where's the logic in that? OK, nasi lemak RM 9 is acceptable, BUT not the price of a pack of Milo?
There you have it. More to add soon. I got a flight to catch at 1800hrs and now it's only 1125hrs.
Gosh.
